Who are we?

The Peterborough Local Group was founded in 2010 and over the past seven years has grown into a thriving group with a vibrant membership. Its main objectives are:

• Engaging more local people in the work of the Wildlife Trust, hopefully leading to an increased membership
• Providing an interesting and enjoyable programme of events throughout the year
• Helping with the promotion of local Wildlife Trust activities
• Fundraising for local projects

What events do we organise?

From September to March we hold a varied programme of monthly talks at St. Andrew’s Church Hall, Ledbury Road, Peterborough, PE3 9RF. This venue has free parking, and is very well appointed, with a PA system and hearing loop. The talks are informal and friendly, and include a refreshment break with tea, coffee and biscuits. At Christmas we have a social and wildlife quiz, which includes home-made mulled wine and mince pies!

Between March and August we arrange monthly walks and visits. Many of these involve visits to local nature reserves, including iconic sites such as Old Sulehay, Barnack Hills and Holes, Castor Hanglands and the Nene valley. We are fortunate to have several very experienced naturalists in the group to help guide us. We have also arranged visits to local farms who are managing their land in a wildlife friendly way, and will occasionally travel further afield for particular wildlife events.

Like to join us?

We warmly welcome anyone who would like to attend events, join the committee, or help out or get involved in whatever way you can. We cater for a mix of wildlife interests, which makes our events and meetings lively and varied. You don’t need to be a member of the WT to join in or help out.
