About the event

Come along to Paxton Pits Environmental Education Centre, where children can have lots of fun discovering more about the amazing jobs nature does for us and try your hand at these jobs too. Will you earn enough to join in with pond dipping?

Make your own terrarium/ecosystem in a jar to take home!

Come along to discover more about local wildlife and take action through fun activities!

This session is suitable for children of a minimum age of four years old, and would also be fun for young people of up to the age of about fourteen years old. Younger siblings in prams/buggies under 18 months old, would be fine accompanying too.

Please book a ticket for everyone who is attending. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Wildlife Trust BCN member and non-member tickets available. Are you a member of the Wildlife Trust BCN? You can get money off your ticket by selecting a member ticket (we may ask for your membership number upon arrival for verification purposes).

Non-members £7:50 per child plus booking fee. Members £5:00 per child plus booking fee.

Lots to do outdoors too so wear long trousers and sensible shoes with closed toes and do bring raincoats. As the site is exposed sunhats and suncream are very important too.

Please be aware all litter/recycling will need to be taken home with you. It is a good idea to bring with you a flask of drink/re-useable bottle pre-filled with water. Refreshments are also available to purchase from the Visitors Centre up the road from the education centre afterwards.

The session will run for 1 and 3/4 hours approximately.

Sorry no dogs (except assistance dogs) are allowed in the Environmental Education Area.

Please do not attend if you or your family are unwell with COVID-19. In this instance please contact Debbie as soon as possible on the mobile number below.

0773 447 8475 or 01480 473161

Please call Debbie in advance to ensure we assist with any mobility elements as necessary.

Please park in the main car park opposite the Visitors Centre, and please be aware the road outside the education centre is used all day by haulage lorries accessing the quarry, so please keep children close on the way to and from the car park.
