Event details
About the event
Welcome to Discover Wild Luton, our exciting Easter programme filled with hands-on, nature‑based activities for families and adults.
Below are the activities taking place on Tuesday (7th April):
10:00-12:00| Family Wood Whittling (for families)
Learn the basics of wood whittling with Dave, a local craftsman. During this practical session, you’ll be taught how to use whittling knives safely and create simple wooden projects.
This session is suitable for children aged 13+, with parent supervision required throughout.
Please book via the Eventbrite link for the morning session.
Price: £3 + booking fee per child (parents attend for free to support their child or children).
When registering, you will be asked to provide the age of the child attending.
13:30-15:00| Freshwater Minibeast Search (for children aged 5-12)
Who lives in our waterways? Can you identify these amazing creatures?
Join us for a fun and educational freshwater minibeast search, combining curiosity, exploration, and simple scientific methods. We’ll bring a water sample from the nearby River Lea so children can discover what lives beneath the surface. The session will finish with a river‑themed craft activity.
This session is suitable for children aged 5–12, with parent supervision required.
Please book via the Eventbrite link for the afternoon session.
Price: £2.50 + booking fee per child.
When registering, you will be asked to provide the age of the child attending.
Please note: There are a limited number of tickets available for each session.
Discover Wild Luton is a programme of activities created by the Luton Health and Nature Partnership (Health and Nature Partnership), a collaboration of organisations that deliver outdoor, nature-based events and activities in the green spaces of Luton. This Easter programme is designed to give local residents a ‘taste’ of what the partnership delivers on a weekly basis. Thanks to National Heritage Lottery Funding we are able to deliver some activities for free and others at a very affordable rate. Please take a look through the whole programme to see what might be of interest and suitable for you as an adult or a more child friendly session.
Alongside this Easter programme there is a longer running exhibition in the Hat Works Space called Chalk Wanderings. This is curated by Abi Spendlove and compliments the different sessions we will be running so please do allow time to explore that exhibition whilst at Hat Works.
We will meet at the reception area of Hat Works located on 47 Guildford Street (not to be confused with Hat Factory across the road). Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the start of the activity to sign in for the activity and meet the activity leader.
