About the event
This varied site, with ancient woodland at Old Sulehay to the north, covered in Bluebells and Wild Garlic in the spring, to the old limestone and iron ore quarries at Stonepit Close which supports rare grassland flora, Birch wood and scrub. We hope to spot, amongst many interesting plants, birds (including Bullfinches and Whitethroat) and butterflies including Grizzled Skipper in the old quarries, and Nuthatch and Treecreeper in the woodland.
The walk will begin in Old Sulehay followed by a picnic lunch (please bring your own) in Stonepit Close, after which we will retrace our steps to the parking area through Old Sulehay.
