The Cambridgeshire Habitat Survey is an essential reference tool that identifies high value habitats across the county. However, it was undertaken in the 1990’s and significant parts of it are now out of date.

The successful applicant will contribute to updating the Cambridgeshire Habitat Survey, working closely with the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Environmental Records Centre (CPERC).

The Habitat Survey update will be achieved through a mixture of desk-based GIS analysis of aerial photos and comparing more recent information sources with the original 1990s Habitat Survey (undertaken mainly by CPERC), and field surveys to verify changes in priority habitats (undertaken by this role). The role will involve organising and carrying out field surveys and co-ordinating with other Wildlife Trust staff and volunteers to support the overall survey effort.

If you have experience of undertaking phase 1 and/or UK Habitats Classification surveys and skills in geographical information software (GIS) and would like to put these skills to use, helping to conserve and protect priority habitats in Cambridgeshire, please apply.

See the links on this page to download the job description for the role and an application form. We do not accept CV’s or cover letters.
