About the event

The Nene Wetlands Nature Reserve is an ideal habitat for bats and a great place to see and hear them, with 5 different species regularly being recorded. We hope that the recent arrival of our family of beavers will further improve the reserve for bats.

Join us for one of our popular evening bat walks around Skew Bridge Lake (also known as 'Bat Alley'), when staff and volunteers will be on hand to explain more about these amazing animals and show you how to use a bat detector (provided) to listen to the bat's echolocation calls and identify the species present.

We will also look out for our beaver family and will have a thermal imaging camera to help and try and spot them. Please note that although dusk is the ideal time for spotting beavers, we cannot guarantee sightings of them and will not be going into the beaver enclosure during this event (if you're interested in seeing what the beavers have been up to, look out for our beaver safari events).

This event is suitable for ages 7 years+. For safety purposes, a maximum of 2 children (under the age of 12) can accompany one adult.

Please ensure you wear appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear and bring a torch if possible. Insect repellent is also advised.
