About the event

This is part of a 2026 mini-series of community work parties in Trumpington Meadows, to support local people to take action for wildlife and help others to enjoy the wonderful nature that Trumpington has to offer. Families with children aged 7+, and adults are welcome. Older children can join our Youth Rangers group and attend unaccompanied (this needs to be arranged in advance). Task will not be suitable for younger children.

In this session, we'll be based near the Ranger's Office on Trumpington Meadows Nature Reserve. We'll be dragging some cut vegetation ready for chipping, mulching some fruit trees in the community orchard, and replacing some reptile mats.

What to bring

Gardening gloves if you have them (some will be available to borrow). To avoid bites, stings and scratches, long sleeves and long trousers are suggested for all participants. Please wear warm clothes (lots of layers) and sturdy shoes like walking boots or wellies, that you don't mind getting muddy. The sessions will go ahead even if it rains, so you may require waterproofs. It is unlikely but if it is especially windy or lightening is forecast, it may not  be advisable to run the session. If this happens, we will let you know as soon as possible, so please look out for an email if the forecast looks bad.
