Two projects being run by the Wildlife Trust BCN have reached the voting stage of the Tesco Bags of Help Grant Schemes. This means you can vote for us in Tesco stores using the blue tokens in November and December. With your help we could win up to £4000 for each project.

In the St Neots area you can support our project at Paxton Pits. This project will help the delivery of family ‘Drop-In’ events at Paxton Pits Education Centre during school holidays, and help local children connect with nature and learn about the environment. 

Study after study has shown that “environments rich in wildlife are also associated with improved well-being, through emotional, social and psychological benefits.” (Bragg et al, 2015) We also know that children are happier, healthier and more creative when connected to the natural world (The Wildlife Trusts, 2015), and more able to cope with stressful situations (Wells & Evans, 2003).

Voting will take place at the Tesco stores in St Neots (Extra), Eaton Socon (Express) and Loves Farm (Express) stores during November and December.

At the Great Fen you can support ‘Wild Wellbeing’ events that will give local people who face significant barriers daily (including dementia, mental and physical disabilities) the chance to connect with nature and learn and develop new skills. Sessions in the community and at the Countryside Centre, Ramsey Heights will focus on different themes, giving everyone something to gain from the experience: whether on a sensory ramble, exploring individual memories of the countryside, or sifting through pond dipping finds. Activities will boost participants' wellbeing in a very individual and personal way, enriching lives and their local community.
