Wild paddles with Canoe2

A group of people set off on canoes on the river Nene

David Joyner

Our collaboration with Northamptonshire company Canoe2 is a unique way to experience and appreciate nature - spot wildlife while gliding the River Nene.

Trips start from Rushden Lakes and include a relaxing self-guided paddle as well as a guided walk around Ditchford Lakes and Meadows  (part of Nene Wetlandswith a Wildlife Trust expert.

Canoe2 will donate 50% of ticket sales from these events to the Wildlife Trust BCN, so every trip helps wildlife!

Evening Paddle and Bat Spotting Walks

5.30-9.45pm on Fridays 30 August and 6 and 13 September 2019.

Canoes leave from Canoe2’s new base at Rushden Lakes, on our Nene Wetlands nature reserve. After a peaceful early evening paddle on the river Nene you will be met back at base by a Wildlife Trust expert for a guided walk as dusk settles, just as the bats are starting to come out. Everyone will have the opportunity to use a bat detector to pick up the ultrasonic frequencies used by bats as they hunt.

Full safety briefing and paddle demonstration before setting off in canoes: trips are not escorted on the river.

Prices start at £55 for a 2-person canoe. Availability is very limited, so please do be sure to book soon for 2019 trips. To book, or order your Gift Vouchers, please visit Canoe2's website, call Canoe2 on 01604 832115 or email info@canoe2.co.uk

“There can be no better way to enjoy and appreciate the rich and diverse habitat than gently paddling down the River Nene in an open Canadian canoe.”
