About the event
During this Youth Ranger session, for anyone living in Luton or Bedfordshire who is aged 12-18yrs old, we will be helping staff from the monitoring team to locate some of the rarer orchid species found at Totternhoe in addition to checking on the status of the slow worm population living there. This will involve a relaxing walk around the site and will be a great chance to learn about some of our rarer species found in the county as well different ways of surveying that our staff use in their roles.
These monthly sessions provide opportunities for meeting other young people interested in the natural environment, learning new skills, as well as exploring a variety of green spaces across Bedfordshire, and helping the Trust to manage their nature reserves.
Refreshments and safety gloves will be provided to all those attending the session. Please dress for the weather and wear sturdy boots. We recommend wearing long trousers and long sleeved shirt/jacket.
No experience is required just some enthusiasm and willingness to join in. Staff are on hand throughout the session and do contact us before this event if you have any queries. If you have not attended a Youth Ranger session before there is a parental permission form to complete first, please email Matt for this at:
