Nene Valley SPA Photography Exhibition
We're looking for photos on the theme 'Beautiful birds of the SPA' to feature in our new Nene Valley SPA Photography Exhibition and calendar.
Celebrate the remarkable birdlife that overwinters with us in the Nene Valley SPA by bringing the hidden world of our Special Protection Area's birdlife into focus.
Share your photographs that invite our community, and those who shape its future, to truly see the remarkable species calling this protected habitat home. From soaring raptors to delicate passerines, wading birds to rare vagrants, each image helps connect viewers to the irreplaceable natural heritage that depends on these special places. Your lens can reveal what's at stake and inspire others to protect what cannot be replaced.
Get involved and submit your best photos on the theme 'Beautiful Birds of the SPA' to be considered as one of our final 12 images at an exhibition, and for an exclusive 2026 SPA calendar.
The closing date for submissions is 20th October 2025 at 9am.
Exhibition and calendar
A selection of images will be chosen from the entries to appear in our Nene Valley SPA Photography Exhibition at a date and venue TBC.
An exclusive 2026 calendar will also be produced featuring the chosen images.
Theme and eligibility
The theme for the Nene Valley SPA Photography Exhibition is Beautiful Birds of the SPA.
Photographs must have been taken within the boundary of the Upper Nene Valley Special Protection Area (see map). This is made up of:
- Northampton Washlands
- Grendon Lakes
- Summer Leys
- Wellingborough Spinney Lakes
- Nene Wetlands
- Stanwick Lakes
- Kinewell Lake
- Titchmarsh
It's free to enter your image/s for consideration for the Nene Valley SPA Photography Exhibition, and all are welcome* to enter. Please refer to the full terms and conditions for detailed information.
*Please note if you are under 18 years of age you will need a parent or guardian to submit your images on your behalf. Staff and trustees of the Wildlife BCN are not eligible to enter. For more information, please refer to our Terms and Conditions.
Judges
A panel of judges including representatives from the Wildlife Trust BCN and the Nene Rivers Trust will be assembled to judge the entries anonymously.
Judging will take place in October 2025. The owners of the selected images for the exhibition will be contacted by telephone or email by 7th November 2025 and all entrants will be contacted about the outcome of their entry before the exhibitors are announced.

You can enter up to three photographs for consideration for our Nene Valley SPA Photography Exhibition. Simply fill in your details on our online form and upload your images.
