Orchards East - Get Involved

Cherry Plum Blossom by Steve Halton

Orchards East is an exciting new environmental and cultural project covering six counties in the east of England - Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.

Orchards East, supported by Heritage Lottery Fund, is continuing to research and record old orchards across Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire. So far their committed team of volunteers have investigated over a quarter of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough’s parishes and over half of Bedfordshire's parishes, uncovering what orchards still exist, what kinds of trees they contain and how important they are for wildlife. Further details about the project can be found here

Anyone who would like to get involved should contact Orchards East Project Manager Howard Jones - there's plenty of parishes still to cover! And any volunteer surveyors who have completed their surveys please remember to return the forms to Howard either by email or to Orchards East, School of History, University of East Anglia, Norwich, NR4 7TJ
