The Wildlife Trust BCN are providing a unique opportunity for two people to join the Great Fen Conservation Team funded through PaluWise, an EU project that is transforming degraded peatland through paludiculture (wet farming) innovation.

You will get the chance to learn new skills and help with monitoring of some exciting projects.

We are looking for two highly motivated people with a desire to learn about paludiculture and landscape scale restoration with an interest in the natural heritage of the Great Fen. Enthusiasm is key for this role as you will learn new skills on the job and develop as you progress through the traineeship.

You will work closely with the Great Fen Wet Farming Officer and Great Fen Monitoring and Research Officer as well as other members of the team to help with surveys, monitoring and data collection within the various projects.

Successful applicants will follow a varied schedule that will allow them to gain a range of skills and experiences whilst working alongside colleagues at the Wildlife Trust BCN and our partners. There will be the opportunity to develop skills in conservation-related disciplines including monitoring, through survey work and data collection, practical conservation, and community engagement. 

The traineeship will also help you to understand the various pathways into a career in the conservation sector.

Applicants will need to be proficient in English communication. You must also be comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions along with the ability to navigate uneven terrain. 

Type of Contract: Fixed Term (6 months, April 2026 to September 2026 inclusive)

Location: Corney’s Farm, Long Drove, Holme, Peterborough, PE7 3PN

Hours: 22.5 Hours (3 days per week- Tuesday to Thursday), Part Time
