About the event

This is part of a 2026 mini-series of community work parties in Cambourne, to support local people to take action for wildlife and help others to enjoy the wonderful nature that Cambourne has to offer. Adults, and families with children aged 7+, are welcome. Older children can join our Youth Rangers group and attend unaccompanied (this needs to be arranged in advance). Task will not be suitable for younger children.

In this session, we'll be helping to remove some tree guards which have done their job and now need to be cut off and removed to stop them damaging the tree and creating litter.

Any children attending this event need to be accompanied by a responsible adult or be part of our Youth Ranger group for young people aged 11-17.

We aim to make our sessions as accessible as possible and are happy to make reasonable adjustments to ensure as many people as possible can enjoy them. Please contact us to discuss your accessibility needs.

What to bring

Gardening gloves if you have them (some will be available to borrow). To avoid bites, stings and scratches, long sleeves and long trousers are suggested for all participants. Please wear clothes you don't mind getting muddy (lots of layers), and sturdy shoes like walking boots or wellies. The sessions will go ahead even if it rains, so you may require waterproofs. It is unlikely but if it is especially windy or lightening is forecast, it may not be advisable to run the session. If this happens, we will let you know as soon as possible, so please look out for an email if the forecast looks bad.
