About the event

Join us for our first nature journaling session in Luton. We hope this will be the start of a recurring monthly series, taking place in a variety of green spaces across the town.
This is a creative, nature-inspired afternoon for young people aged 16-30, designed to help you slow down, look more closely at nature, and explore wildlife through drawing. You will also discover a hidden, wilder side of Luton and spend time with like-minded people.

Nature Journaling

We will start by exploring what nature journaling is and how it can be practised in simple, enjoyable ways. We will then head out into the community garden and, weather permitting, walk up Bradgers Hill for inspiration and exploration, where you'll create your own sketches and notes.

You don't need any drawing experience to take part. Curiosity and an interest in nature are all you need.

All materials for nature journaling and drawing will be provided.

Meeting point & location

We will meet at Bushmead Community Hub, Hancock Drive, Luton, LU2 7SF.
The session will take place mostly outdoors. We'll begin at the Hub before heading into the community garden and, weather permitting, walking to nearby Bradgers Hill. There will be some walking involved as we explore the surrounding green spaces.
If you have any accessibility or mobility concerns, please feel free to get in touch.

What to bring

  • Clothing suitable for spending time outdoors, including long trousers and long sleeves
  • Walking boots or sturdy closed shoes
  • A water bottle and snacks if needed
  • Waterproof clothing

Hot drinks and biscuits will be provided for the activity.

Weather note

In the event of wet weather, we will make use of the Hub indoor space. Activities may be adapted or shortened, but we'll still enjoy the wellbeing benefits of connecting with nature through journaling.
