About the event
A Walk in the Park is a programme of easily accessible walks for all ages running monthly in Luton (every first Wednesday of the month).
A Walk in the Park provides an opportunity to:
- Boost your health and well-being whilst taking a short walk around a natural space and practice some mindfulness in nature.
- Explore green spaces in Luton.
- Meet like-minded people and make new friends.
Learn about the natural world and opportunity to share your own knowledge or experiences.
The aim of the programme is to encourage exploration of scenic parks and green spaces right on your doorstep, at the heart of Luton.
The walks will be led by staff of Wildlife Trust Bedfordshire and volunteers.
All ages welcome!
On this walk, we will explore a hidden pocket of green space right in the heart of Luton—Cowslip Meadow, a species-rich lowland meadow and a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest. In the height of summer, you’ll be captivated by the diversity of plant life and wildlife found here. We’re also hoping to time our visit just right to spot some Marsh Orchids at the far end of the meadow.
Please dress appropriately for the outdoors, including sturdy footwear for soft or uneven paths, and long sleeves and trousers to protect against tick bites.
The accessibility at Cowslip meadow can be limiting due to uneven/ narrow paths. However because it is a relatively small park, there will be more opportunities to explore this site and engage in mindfulness activities in between walking short distances. Please get in touch if you have any mobility concerns or questions about the walk.
We will meet at the entrance of Cowslip Meadow (info board) off Springfield road (LU3 2HF). Please park on the side of the road but be mindful of resident parking.
If using What Three Words website or App then please use the following ///called.prone.ships for the meeting point.
