About the event

Whilst the majority of plants follow a standard model of relying entirely on sunlight, carbon dioxide, water and soil, others have headed down a different path. Some have evolved to be at least partial parasites on other plants, including that essential of wildflower meadows, Yellow Rattle, Mistletoe and Toothwort (aka ‘corpse flower’!). Meanwhile, other plants – such as sundews - have arguably taken things even further, evolving to actively catch and feed on invertebrate prey. This promises to be a fascinating talk about some of our most unusual and charismatic plants.
