About the event

This is part of a 2026 mini-series of community work parties in Cambourne, to support local people to take action for wildlife and help others to enjoy the wonderful nature that Cambourne has to offer. Families with children aged 7+, and adults are welcome. Older children can join our Youth Rangers group and attend unaccompanied (this needs to be arranged in advance). Task will not be suitable for younger children.

In this session, we'll be supporting the regular adult work party, working in the south of the nature reserve next to a small pond. We'll be using tools to cut back overhanging vegetation to open up a path, and also removing tree guards. We might do a bit of litter-picking along the way. There will be a walk to the site before we start.

Additional information

It is essential that you book your place in advance and do not just turn up on the day. Please see contact email below.

Any children attending this event need to be accompanied by a responsible adult or be part of our Youth Ranger group for young people aged 11-17.

What to bring

Gardening gloves if you have them (some will be available to borrow). To avoid bites, stings and scratches, long sleeves and long trousers are suggested for all participants. Please wear clothes you don't mind getting muddy, and sturdy shoes like walking boots or wellies. The sessions will go ahead even if it rains, so you may require waterproofs. It is unlikely but if it is especially windy or lightening is forecast, it may not  be advisable to run the session. If this happens, we will let you know as soon as possible, so please look out for an email if the forecast looks bad.
