Rothschild Way Challenge
Wicken, Ely, Cambridgeshire, CB7 5XP
About the event
The Rothschild Way is a guided trail connecting existing footpaths between Wicken Fen and Woodwalton Fen. It was created to celebrate the historic connection between the two oldest nature reserves in the country, founded by Sir Charles Rothschild.
The Wildlife Trust BCN is looking for participants willing to take up the challenge to complete the 39 mile walk in under 17 hours, and we encourage participants to try to raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorship. The money will support work to create and manage wildlife habitats in the Great Fen. The walk helps us to celebrate our natural heritage and the route travels through some of our most iconic Cambridgeshire landscape.
You will start the day early at 5am with breakfast at National Trust's Wicken Fen, the walk will start at 6am and take you along lovely riverside areas full of wildlife and you will finish at the beautiful Rothschild's Bungalow to collect your medal and certificate. Most importantly, you will be raising money for one of the most amazing conservation projects in the country today.
If you can't manage the whole 39 miles then get a team together of two or four walkers and do a stage each. You can secure a place with just £15 registration fee, or £35 for a team of four. All participants will be sent our special Welcome Packs filled with route details, parking information, maps and fundraising ideas and training support will be provided in the lead up to the event.
