Expression of Interest: Nene Valley Water Quality Testing

Could you become a river monitor for the Nene Valley?

We're exploring the possibility of setting up community water quality monitoring groups along the River Nene, alongside the Upper Nene Valley Gravel Pits Special Protection Area, and we'd love to know if this is something you might want to be part of.

Water quality has a direct impact on the wildlife that makes this landscape so special, from the birds that depend on the gravel pits to the invertebrates, fish, and plants that underpin the whole ecosystem. It's also important not just for human health, but for our peaceful enjoyment and recreation. By regularly testing the river, local volunteers could build a picture of its health over time, creating something genuinely valuable that belongs to the community for the long term.

No experience is necessary. We're at the very early stages and simply want to hear from people who are curious, keen, and care about this place. Whether you're a seasoned ecologist or someone who just loves spending time by the water, your interest matters.

If this sounds like something you'd like to know more about, we'd love to hear from you. There's no commitment at this stage, just fill in the form below with your name, email address and location and we'll keep you in the loop as the project takes shape.

If you have any questions about the project, please contact Lara at lara.jones@wildlifebcn.org
