Volunteer Stories - Steph Kimsey

Steph Kimsey tells us what she's been up to since she started volunteering for The Wildlife Trust

My name is Steph Kimsey.

I have volunteered for the Trust for several years.

Initially, I worked on bat and bird surveys at Flitwick Moor  in Bedfordshire. My speciality is birds, but I am fast learning about our local bats (even taking my bat detector with me on my holidays in addition to my binoculars).

I now co-ordinate and lead the bat surveys at my local reserve, Felmersham on the River Ouse in North Bedfordshire, which I find very rewarding.

I have helped with pond surveys at Coopers Hill, and my latest venture is helping out at Rushden Lakes with guided bird and butterfly walks, plus some pond dipping and bug hunting with the local families.
