About the event

This wildlife‑focused creative activity is part of Youth Week 2026, delivered by Wildlife Trust BCN (15–23 August)
Youth Week aims to inspire young people to connect with nature through fun, creative, and meaningful outdoor experiences.

This is a creative, nature‑inspired afternoon for young people aged 16–25, designed to help you slow down, look more closely at nature, and explore wildlife through drawing and photography.

You don’t need to be a nature expert or an artist to take part. The focus is on connection, curiosity, and creativity, using mindful outdoor activities to enjoy spending time in nature and discover the various habitats found in this park.

The session includes two relaxed, guided activities, led by Wildlife Trust staff and friends:

Nature journaling (part 1)

We’ll start by exploring what nature journaling is and how it can be practised in simple, enjoyable ways. You’ll then head out into Leagrave Park to observe wildlife and create your own sketches and notes inspired by what you find or what you are drawn to.

You don’t need any drawing experience — curiosity and an interest in nature are all you need.
All materials for nature journaling and drawing will be provided.

Nature photography (part 2)

We’ll then be joined by our friend June, who has a passion for photography and wildlife. June will share photography tips and creative ideas before we head back out to explore the park’s different habitats and try capturing nature and wildlife through our cameras.

You’ll need a smartphone to fully take part in the photography activity.
