About the event

Join Luton & Bedfordshire Youth Rangers for a practical conservation session at this unique heathland site.
We will be helping to remove bracken so that important heathland species, like heather, can thrive on this site. We will also ensure there is time to explore Cooper's Hill and learn more about this special site.

This activity is part of the Youth Week (15-23rd August) organised by the Wildlife Trust BCN. For more activities run during this week across all three counties, please click here

What to expect

The work will take place on the nature reserve and may involve:

  • Uneven ground
  • Walking through overgrown patches of gorse

If you have any accessibility concerns or questions, please get in touch with us before the session.

What to wear

Please dress appropriately for the weather. We recommend:

  • Boots with good ankle support due to uneven terrain
  • Long trousers and long‑sleeved tops and a hat

What we provide

  • Refreshments
  • Safety gloves

Meeting point

We will meet at Ampthill Scout Hut which is located off Station Road (MK45 2QR), opposite residential housing. On-street parking is available on Station Road for drop off and pick up. Please note, we won't have access to any facilities in the scout hut, and all the session is planned outdoors.

If using What3words App, search for polka.backyards.closed for the exact location of the Scout Hall.
