Woodland wildlife lovers in Beds, Cambs and Northants have the opportunity to double their donations for one week only in December.

The Wildlife Trust BCN is taking part in the The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2025 from December 2-9. We are aiming to raise £7,500 for Ancient Woodlands during the week – this will be match funded to create a total pot of £15,000 for nature conservation.

The Big Give initiative means philanthropists and businesses match every pound pledged by the public during the challenge. The money raised for Wildlife Trust BCN will go towards the Wilder Future Fund which is making a difference for wildlife and habitats in our region.

Emma Morris, Individual Giving Manager, said: “The Big Give Christmas Challenge is a fantastic opportunity for people who want to make a difference for nature. Every £10 you give will become £20 and will have double the impact.

“Our focus is Ancient Woodlands – these precious habitats in our region are home to many threatened species from orchids and butterflies to birds and one of our rarest mammals the hazel dormouse.

“Woodlands mean so much to the local communities who visit them but they are under threat like never before. A combination of climate change, tree diseases and invasive species are causing huge problems for our conservation teams. We have the skills and knowledge to help our woodlands survive, but we need funding for staff and tools.

“If you are planning to give back to nature this Christmas then make sure you do it through the Big Give Christmas Challenge between December 2-9.”
