The Bedford Local Group is a long-standing, thriving, friendly group of people with a shared interest in our natural world. We are concerned with supporting and advertising the work of the Trust and promoting an interest in and a greater understanding of the environment.

We have two events per month. On the first Wednesday of each month there is a guided morning walk usually led by an expert on the site being visited. The walks start at 10-00 am and last for about two hours.

The meeting on the second Wednesday of the month varies with the seasons. From September to April we hold talks on a wide range of wildlife topics. These take place in Priory Methodist Church Hall, Newnham Avenue, Bedford and start at 7-30pm. In the summer months from May to August we hold evening walks which start at 7.00 pm. Again, these last for approximately two hours.

We don’t charge, but participants usually give a donation which enables us to make regular contributions towards the work of the Trust in Bedfordshire.

This autumn we are visiting Marston Thrift, Milton Keynes, Grafham Water and the RSPB reserve in Sandy. Our talks will give the opportunity to learn more about Bedfordshire’s geology, the Hidden World of the Cowpat, the work of the Trust in Bedfordshire and the Wildlife of the Pantanal.

Details of our events are found on the Trust website or you can contact
