CUPA Wild Work Day

On 20th December a team of staff from Cambridge University Press & Assessment’s Product Team joined us for a Wild Work Day at Trumpington Meadows nature reserve.

On 20th December a team of staff from Cambridge University Press & Assessment’s Product Team joined us for a Wild Work Day at Trumpington Meadows nature reserve. Having been working on several green initiatives, the team thought it would be good to use one of their volunteering days supporting another, and their hard work was welcomed by Senior Ranger Becky and her team! A native hedge was planted, as well as a selection of trees, and tree guards were removed from plants that are now firmly established. As well as benefitting wildlife, the team relished the opportunity to mingle with colleagues often only seen remotely, sharing a picnic lunch and some festive mince pies! Their feedback sums up a very enjoyable day:

“…the volunteering day was a very fulfilling and fun day out - really enjoyable and felt good to be giving something back to the planet. The Wildlife Trust leaders were excellent and showed so much passion about what they do it was hard not to feel the same passion as well!”
“…Volunteering with the Wildlife Trust for the day was brilliant - it was great to spend time outdoors doing something positive for the environment whilst catching up with colleagues – I felt satisfyingly tired by the end of the day, and am looking forward to revisiting Trumpington Meadows in the summer to see how the native hedge and cherry trees have grown…”
“It was great to be outside, to see colleagues again and to give something back to our local community. The fresh air and connecting with nature was also great for my wellbeing!”
