The River Cam supports the majority of chalk streams in Cambridgeshire. These are under severe pressure in terms of abstraction, water quality and past river engineering work. However, they are much valued locally, and there are major opportunities to restore them, with significant investment planned by water companies over the next 5 years. This position can play a role in shaping a brighter future for our chalk streams and the surrounding land.

This is a new post which will provide administrative support to help prepare a full Cam Catchment Plan and develop a strong and resilient Catchment Partnership. It is offered as a fixed-term post, part-time for 15 months.

The post will work alongside our Cam Catchment Partnership Office & Water for Wildlife Officer to develop a catchment plan with a list of river improvement projects for the Cam Catchment, which includes the majority of chalk streams in Cambridgeshire. It will support our existing officers with administration tasks in running the partnership, organising events and meetings of the Catchment Partnership and sub-groups, organising citizen science monitoring efforts including distribution of monitoring kits, and updating information on the partnership website. It will also be able to support the existing officers with some of the project communications and fundraising activities. 

The successful candidate with be organised with experience of administrative or customer service role(s), be computer literate and have good inter-personal skills, being able to work with people from a variety of backgrounds. A keen interest in and commitment to wildlife and environmental issues is desirable.
