Why litter pick?

Why litter pick?

There are many reasons why I like to litter pick - here are just a few to share

You can help improve wildspaces quickly.

You can get rid of things that harm wildlife and pets.

Glass, metals and plastic can hopefully then get recycled instead and turned into things you like.

It's a way to say "Thanks" to the natural world.

I once found a lost store card and was able to return it to its owner. Hopefully, I will get to find other lost property that can be put in a visible place eg. a glove or property that can be returned to its owner. I once found a dog collar before that I put on a fence - in fact, I once found a dog and returned him to his owner too!

Sometimes you find strange and interesting items - you appreciate noticing these things.

I haven't found any money yet but hope I do!

It keeps you fit and you get to explore.

If you have a dog, they like to do this with you!

It's a good way to chat to people and tell them about the Wildlife Trust and the young people’s forum - they are sometimes nice and supportive.

I think if people see litter they are more likely to drop litter. Litter attracts fly-tipping too. So, let's get rid of litter!

You get an idea of problems like where people might be parking up and drinking alcohol.

It has made me think about recycling even more stuff.

You can make a difference!
