In August 2013 we launched an appeal to raise match funding for a £1.89m grant awarded to us by the Heritage Lottery Fund (an extension of the record-breaking £7.2m we secured in 2008). The match funding required was £1m, and the target for our public appeal £182,000. You’ve helped us raise £92,353.71 so far – thank you!
We’ve managed to raise £677,000 from various sources since August 2013, but to make sure that we can claim all of our HLF grant we need to raise £316,000 by December 2016.
Thank you to all those individuals and companies who have and are helping us to restore this wonderful nature reserve. We have raised £197,185 (including a large amount from landfill funder Viridor to help us to purchase the nature reserve). We have been able to put in benches, improved access with new paths, gates and signs, and have built cattle fencing.
This autumn we will be able to enhance wildlife habitat, creating new wet areas for wading birds and restoring traditional management to the hedgerows and willows. We have been helped in this work and engaging with the community by our wonderful volunteers. We will continue restoring the nature reserve and hope to get more funding from other sources in the months and years to come. You have helped to make this happen!
