Our newest reserve combines four existing reserves to create a true Living Landscape

Our vision for the Nene Valley centres on the Nene Wetlands Nature Reserve - seven wildlife sites restored, improved and connected into one square mile of nature reserve. These sites include the existing Trust nature reserves (Ditchford, Wilson’s Pit, Higham Ferrers Pits and Irthlingborough Lakes and Meadows) linked together with the developer-owned Rushden Lakes complex of three sites leased to the Trust (Skew Bridge Lake, Delta Pit and Higham Ferrers Lake).

Our new Nene Wetlands Visitor Centre - the first for the Wildlife Trust BCN - is on the new Rushden Lakes retail development that connects wildlife enthusiasts and shoppers with the area’s unique natural and industrial heritage and its future. We want visitors to appreciate that they share this destination with more than 20,000 migratory birds – one of Europe’s premier locations to enjoy this spectacle.

Drop by the Visitor Centre to pick up a map and Discovery Trail Guide – we're open 10am-5pm every day except Christmas Day -  only 15 miles from Northampton, 12 miles from Kettering, 6 miles from Wellingborough and just over 1 mile from the centre of Rushden.
