Join us on an electric boat to experience the joy of morning birdsong
The Wildlife Trust BCN has teamed up with the St Ives Electric Riverboat Company to offer a unique experience along the River Great Ouse
This April see a variety of bird species while on a gentle cruise along the river through the beautiful town of St Ives. Departing from the quay by Town Bridge, 'Meander' glides silently past the reed beds of Holt Island Nature Reserve and on upstream, accompanied by the delightful birdsong of the late dawn chorus.
The voyage continues through Hemingford Lock, between mature trees lining the river banks at Hemingford Grey and beyond to Battocks Island, with the opportunity to record all species seen and heard. A bird guide will be on board to help identify sightings and talk about the wildlife.
Previously recorded birds on trips include wren, warblers, woodpecker, treecreeper, little egrets, cuckoo, sandpiper, sparrow hawk, kite, kingfisher, kestrel, blackcap and whitethroat.
Trips leave from St Ives Quay at 6am and return at 8am, afterwards enjoy a breakfast and chat with fellow wildlife enthusiasts at River Tea Rooms. Available dates:
